Our Story

Northeast Track Club

“It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly’s wing can cause a typhoon halfway around the world.” – Chaos Theory

Northeast Track Club (NETC) started on June 9, 2020. Faced with the challenges of the global COVID-19 pandemic, a group of friends met outdoors to run fast laps on an empty track. Little did we know that finding space with each other would offer a whole community so much more. We snapped a photo and threw it up on social media. From there, week after week, athletes showed up to be part of this movement. No questions asked. No memberships.

The founders of NETC share two common passions; running and more importantly, community. The founders believe support and inclusivity are the cornerstones of the club, which in turn attracts like-minded runners that continue to develop our team.

As the pandemic lingers, the team continues to find solace on the track. We have learned to accept change, pivot, and find the light in uncertainty. Rather than fixating on limitations, we focus on doing what we can with what we have. Above all, for both the founders and our runners, NETC continues to be an opportunity to give back to the community during a time where we all need a little help.

Chaos Theory connects two points that are familiar but might otherwise be seen as incompatible. At NETC, new, amateur, veteran, and elite runners share a space, cross the same paths, and celebrate each others wins. We push and pull in different directions to make meaningful change through community, camaraderie, and service to our city.

Since the beginning, it has been our ethos that small change can make a big impact. Running can change lives. It is our intention to offer this resource to all who crave it, bring more diversity to the sport, and to fiercely protect the superpower that we have found in this community.

Northeast Track Club. Embrace Chaos.
