Iwona "Vonks" Kesting
CO-FOUNDER - RETIRED
Vonks is affectionately known as “track mom” of NETC. She started running during youth and high school lacrosse, and continued in college at James Madison University— recreationally and with friends (mostly because running was free!) After moving to DC in 2010, Vonks ran her first race and was hooked. Soon after that she met her hubs, “track dad,” and shortly after, she met Mona Lavinia Garcia (one of the original 4 founders, no longer with the group). From there, Vonks and Mona stuck together on many running adventures and endeavors, leading running groups around the city over nearly a decade.
Vonks loves running, but what she loves more is sharing the love for running with others. Off the track, she is Director of Business Development for a global law firm.

James Majewski
CO-FOUNDER
The camera guy…a former track sprinter and college soccer player (Christopher Newport University). James only likes to go fast. Previously you could’ve found him playing soccer or volleyball 3-4 nights a week all over the city. In 2020, he put his running shoes away and replaced them with a camera. He’s lived in DC for 11 years and is passionate about supporting small businesses. James, joined NETC at their third workout with only 8 runners. That same day, he used his phone to take and share photos of the run and post-run tacos…the next week we had an Instagram account.
Running is typically a solitary sport, but the energy you feel and see at the track will change your perspective. James thinks that effort, hard work, and growth should be shared to inspire those around you.
Off the track, he is the head of customer success for a live streaming app (Popshop Live).

Matt "Track Dad" Kesting
CO-FOUNDER
Growing up in Southern California, Matt has always been active and athletic. Never one to consider himself the typical runner, Matt grew up playing sports that required a lot of running (soccer, football, basketball) and has always had a knack for teamwork and leading by example.
Like many in NETC, Matt started running on a whim after moving to the DC area where he knew no one. But then running led him to the one, "track mom" Vonks, who introduced him to the vibrant DC running community. From there, Matt helped Vonks with many crazy ideas and adventures, supporting and guiding behind the scenes (and running all of the miles along the way). When the group met James, Matt found a buddy to round out the founders of NETC. Matt is especially welcoming of all of the group’s new joiners, and is passionate about making everyone’s first NETC experience memorable—a role that earned him the “track dad” title.
Matt also heads up the group’s community service efforts, NETC proudly offers to all of its members as a way to give back to our city. When not running with the group, Matt is the Administrator of the DC office of a national law firm.

Molly Applegate
Molly’s love for running started running when she was 8 years old zooming from fence to fence in her backyard. She competed in cross country and track throughout high school and continued to run in college for William and Mary. During her time at W&M she specialized in the mile and steeplechase.
Molly is always up for a challenge and is passionate about elevating those around her to find their spark. She found NETC in the fall of 2020 and never looked back. Sharing a few miles with friends is one of life’s simplest pleasures and this group never fails to bring the magic. Cheers to more miles and memories!
Fun fact: Molly grew up racing sailboaits at the Jersey Shore and spent her summers as a sailing coach.

Simone Giovanetti
Simone started running recreationally in middle school because her older brothers were on the cross country team and she thought that seemed like something she wanted to do. While she never actually joined a cross country team, she's been running consistently since. Until 2019, she primarily ran by herself as a way to cultivate mental clarity and for the physical challenge.
When Simone moved to DC, she started running with local DC running groups as a way to meet people. She quickly realized how powerful and special the bonds are that come from logging loops around the track or miles on the mall. Simone loves running and loves the opportunity to share and learn about the people with whom she's running. When not running, she's a scientist at the NIH.

Sami Tewolde Rowley
Sami has been an athlete her whole life. She started out as a soccer player, a mid-fielder more specifically, which to be frank was a LOT of thankless running. To stay in shape for soccer season, she joined her high school track team. In the running world, Sami has done everything from hurdles and high jump to sprinting and cross country.
She took a break in college where she worked as a kick-boxing trainer (another love of hers) but still running recreationally for mental and physical health. After graduating college, Sami stumbled across NETC through a mutual friend and was instantly impressed by the close-knit community full of strong, disciplined, hilarious, and caring individuals.
Sami found herself looking forward to Tuesdays and Saturdays more than any other times of the week and looking for more and more opportunities to spend time with the NETC community. Sami’s favorite things about NETC are the relationships she’s built. She’s met some of her best friends and role models here – and she is looking forward to giving back to the place that gave her that magic.
Sami works as a human capital technology consultant for federal agencies.

Carlos "Los" Bonnett-Castillo
Carlos aka "Los" is a lifelong runner. He began running at 5 years old, coached by his runner father. He went on to run cross country and track in high school and was a two time Arizona cross country state champion. After a short hiatus, Los rediscovered his passion for running after joining the Navy and began a 10 year obsession with marathon running. When he moved to DC he fell in love with the running community and immediately became involved by joining the Nike Run Club as a Pacer. He would also meet fellow Pacer, (and future NETC founder) Vonks, at Nike and even his eventual wife, Kerri. In short, the DC running community has given Los a lot and he loves giving back to the community that has become like a family to him.
Today you are more likely to find Los behind a camera. A self-taught videographer, he enjoys creating and telling stories. As our head of content, his goal is to highlight the running community and specifically the close knit bonds that have been formed within the NETC community and The District. So if you happen to find yourself in front of his camera, give him a wave, a thumbs up, or a smile and show off the greatness of NETC!
Off the track Los is a retired Navy Sailor after 20 years of service!

Mike Alleyne
In high school, Mike joined the track team to "stay in shape" for basketball season. Shortly after, he realized his talents were best served off the court and hung up the basketball shoes for racing spikes. His love for the sport followed him to UNC Chapel Hill where he joined the Club Running Team his first day on campus. Over the years, he served the team as an officer by planning events, directing races, ordering merch, and writing workouts.
After college Mike moved on to New York City where he shifted his focus to weight training. In that time, he became a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, and running coach. He ultimately fell back into running with a newfound appreciation for strength as a means to improve performance.
Life later brought Mike to DC where he heard about NETC from a former teammate. From there it took just one practice and he knew it was the place to be every Tuesday night.
When Mike isn't running, he is either golfing (poorly) or training his dog (unsuccessfully).

Casey Greenwalt
Growing up in Asheville, North Carolina, Casey spent her childhood being active and outside. She decided to try running track after years of gymnastics, which changed her life forever (for the better).
She competed in cross country and track throughout high school and then into college at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she specialized in the 1500 meter. She then completed her master’s degree at Florida State University, where she also served as an assistant cross-country and distance track coach.
Casey found NETC in the fall of 2022, when she moved to DC for work. She immediately found immense joy in the beautiful community of NETC and knew it was a good thing from her first practice.
When she’s not running, she can be found hiking, cooking, and coaching.
-
Zach Prescott
Growing up in Boston, Zach started up with running when he realized that his best asset in youth soccer was getting to the ball, okay, maybe his only asset at that time!
He competed in cross country and track though high school (go Wildcats?) and in college at Boston University (go Dawgz!) where he specialized in the 3000-meter steeple chase and broke an obscure world record that simply will not stop consuming his internet presence years later. He now coaches full time at American University and works independently in mental performance coaching as a CMPC.
After solo training in DC for a few years Zach found NETC as a way to connect with the vibrant DC running community and lean into his favorite part of the sport; the people!
When not running or coaching Zach can be found paddling on the Potomac, cooking, or running a niche summer sports league with is friends.

Summer Key
In middle school, Summer dreaded running the mile. If you told her then that one day she’d be running multiple times a week for fun, she’d never believe you. But in January 2023 Summer started running and found it made her feel accomplished, energetic, and excited to improve. Slow and steady miles (with plenty of walk breaks), turned into crossing the finish line of the Chicago marathon 9 months later!
Summer joined NETC in November 2023 and was instantly hooked. Drawn in by the challenging workouts, she stayed for the uplifting and fun community. She loves cheering people on as they push themselves toward a challenging goal, and getting great tips from all of the more experienced runners in the group. Off the track, Summer does political advertising compliance for a tech company.

Nate Kinsey
Like so many people, the running bug bit Nate during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Stressed, housebound, and often alone, Nate found that stepping outside and running a quick mile lifted his spirits.
So when the former high school track runner moved from CA to DC in January 2021, Nate kept running those quick miles and sharing his running journey on social media.
In June 2021, he attended his first NETC Tuesday night; he was instantly hooked and never stopped showing up. The combination of NETC's workouts, supportive community, and individual friendships has created an environment where he feels at home every week.
In 2023, Nate enthusiastically accepted the offer to join NETC's leadership team as a pacer. In that role, Nate brings energy and excitement to his pace group each week to help NETC's community members accomplish their goals.
Off the track, Nate is the Vice President of External Affairs for a clean energy start-up called UtilityAPI and can often be found in a nearby sauna.

Kerri Kolarik
Kerri has always had a competitive spirit. From gymnastics as a kid to collegiate field hockey. She’s always looking for a way to challenge herself. After moving to D.C., post-grad, she craved that competitive buzz and a community in her newfound city. While Kerri was never an eager runner, the D.C running community had a magnetic pull that managed to fulfill the competitor in her and the community she was missing.
Skipping through a whirlwind of cross-country moves, Kerri found herself circling back to her friends from her old running crew, now with NETC. There, she rekindled a flame for running and fell head over heels for the crew's tight-knit vibe. Sure, she might grumble about the runs now and then, but she's hooked on the infectious energy of the inspiring group and the chance to hang with her friends. It's more than just the miles—it's the unbeatable camaraderie that keeps her lacing up those running shoes and showing up, time after time.
-
Patrick Ross
Patrick started running with NETC in December 2020 as a way to see new people during the pandemic and stay motivated for running during dark, cold winter days. One group run was all it took to get hooked -- and turn an occasional hobby into a consistent joy.
Growing up in Minnesota, Patrick was never an athlete and was more likely to be found in a rehearsal room or library. Before joining NETC, he'd never participated in a race or run a track workout. In the years prior to the pandemic, running was an off and on routine and always solo -- he would've described a group workout as a personal nightmare. Joining NETC and the broader DC running community has changed that outlook entirely.
Patrick's favorite part of NETC is the club's support for all comers: whether entirely new runners, casual joggers, or current and former performance athletes, we're happy you're here. He's most excited to see you on race day, cheering on runners as they push to achieve their latest goal.
Off the track, you'll find Patrick walking his dog Gordy or working at a nonprofit dedicated to health care safety.

Willis Chen
Originally from Southern California, Willis did not run at the high school or collegiate level but played sports at a recreational level when he was growing up.
Willis started running in 2017 during his first stint living in Washington D.C., originally with the goal of completing the D.C. Rock and Roll Half Marathon as his first half marathon. After successfully completing that half marathon in a little over two hours, he realized that had a liking towards long distance running and he began to think about taking on bigger challenges within road racing. Willis went on to complete his first marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon, with a time of 5:07:32 later that year. Starting off his running career as a back-of-the-pack runner, Willis improved his times across all distances as he learned more about running, through trial and error and through hard lessons learned along the way.
After moving back to Washington D.C. in the summer of 2021, Willis found NETC and was instantly struck by the close-knit community and appreciated the social aspect and camaraderie that the club offered. One of Willis’s favorite things about NETC is the relationships that he has built with runners in the community over many loops on the track and over many miles on the roads. Known for being NETC’s hype person, Willis can be found cheering on his fellow runners’ PR successes.
One of Willis’s proudest running accomplishments is when he ran his first-ever sub-3 hour marathon and qualified for the Boston Marathon for the first time at the 2023 TCS London Marathon. Willis currently has a half marathon PR of 1:18:37 and a marathon PR of 2:49:16. In addition, Willis is actively working on finishing the remaining major marathons and becoming an Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Finisher, with an eye towards completing that goal in spring 2025.
When not running, Willis works in data and analytics at a national labor union.
